"Tips were by far the most common detection method in
our study, catching nearly three times as many frauds as
any other form of detection. This is consistent with the
findings in our prior reports. Tips have been far and away
the most common means of detection in every study
since 2002, when we began tracking the data." according to the 2010 ACFE Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse. A global study by PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2007 echoed this finding.

In addition, the Report to the Nations found that median losses in organizations with no hotline were more than twice as high as in organizations with a hotline in place ($245,000 versus $100,000). This finding is consistent with the 2008 Report to the Nation.

EthicsLine is the official hotline of the ACFE, offering confidential, anonymous reporting services in 150 languages, 24/7/365. EthicsLine has provided industry-leading hotline programs to 50% of the Fortune 500 for more than 25 years, and boasts the highest actionability rate of reports received within the industry.
